Beauty Deconstructed

When we go to watch a movie at the cinema, we almost never stop to think about all that took place behind the scenes to make the film possible; the same practically occurs when we are out and about shopping for clothes, we rarely think about the person who genuinely created the fashions we buy.

Maybe, some people might not think it very useful to know the story of the persons designing the clothes we wear. But,  I find it interesting and exciting to learn and dig a little deep into the fabric. Just like getting to know what compels a writer to put thoughts and ideas into words, it is enthralling to me to find out the passions and inspirations of those who design the beautiful  plus size clothing we wear.

That is the reason why I am today taking a closer look at three unique and talented plus size clothing designers, in a bid to bring you a little step closer to those creating the stylish plus size fashions we have available on the market today. Discovering  ‘where your clothes come from’, like a piece of art, will make you appreciate them more.

Kim of Kiyonna
Kim Camarella-Khanbeigi is the President and Founder of one of the top plus size clothing stores currently around, Kiyonna. Inspired by a beautiful and full figured friend who had all her clothes sewn by her mother, Kim launched Kiyonna online in 1996. She is committed to making full figured women look and feel beautiful through the fashionable, quality apparel provided through Kiyonna.

Yuliya Raquel of IGIGI
A fashion designer born and raised in Ukraine, Yuliya felt the need to provide curvy women with beautiful apparel, when she saw how difficult it was for her own mother to find dresses in her size that made her feel like a beautiful and chic woman. Through IGIGI, Yuliya can now provide plus size women with clothes which do not just make them feel gorgeous, but which also accentuate their figure. Yuliya created her clothes from the heart and is also sometimes inspired from her journeys around the globe and the United States.

A very artistic woman deep down, Monif C. saw the craving curvy women had for stylish and sexy clothing, and embarked on a mission to fill this need, and dare I say, Monif is doing a super job at it! Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Monif is inspired by life and her aspirations. Her aim is to provide plus size ladies with colorful plus size fashion which makes them feel stylish, inspired, luxurious and sexy.

It is interesting, getting to know a little more about plus size fashion designers and the inspirations behind the clothes we wear. There is a much more than fabric to a garment, more which can turn a stunning dress into an inspiring work of art.
